What are my payment options?

Payment is accepted via Credit Card or PayPal. Items must be paid in full prior to shipping. For custom orders, a down payment of 50% is required.

You will receive confirmation of payment and shipping.

Are you a green jeweler?

I am as green and eco-friendly as possible as a jeweler. All of the metal has been recycled and is properly refined and is not newly mined metal, which scars the earth. I use all natural non-toxic alternatives to traditional chemicals when I can. I recycle packaging and buy recycled supplies. I am not perfect and will not claim to be 100% green; but I am earth conscious in all I do.

Do you charge tax?

9.25% tax is charged to Tennessee residents or the appropriate sales tax in the state in which I am doing a show.
As a buyer, you are responsible for paying your state’s Use Tax for items you buy online from another state.

When can I expect my piece? (Shipping)

I will ship anywhere in the World as long as import/export rules allow. All items are gift wrapped and carefully packed in cotton, paper, and/or bubble wrap filled boxes to ensure a damage-free arrival, which means I have to use the package mailing rates, rather than envelope rates.

If you want your package faster than what I state below, please contact me and I will be happy to accommodate your request.

Domestic: Shipped via USPS First Class or Priority Mail (Flat Rate boxes or determined by the weight and size of the package) with Insurance within the United States.

International: Shipped via First Class International Airmail for the rest of the world. International shipping rates are based on package rates and delivery destinations and may vary from the estimated shipping. All additional duties and taxes are the responsibility of the buyer. Insurance for International is not provided but is optional if you request it. As you may know, the price increases dramatically with insurance, so I only offer it as an option.

If you live in or around Nashville, Tennessee, you don’t have to wait for your piece in the mail. Simply contact me and I’ll be happy to deliver your purchase to you.

Your purchase is shipped no later than 48 hours after payment is cleared. For made-to-order items, they ship within 10 business days, unless you request otherwise. I will send you a confirmation message once the item is shipped.

Please contact me if you require a different shipping method prior to purchase so I may adjust any differences in price (be it expedited or with hold delay). I am happy to accommodate any requests.

I welcome custom requests and am more than happy to work with you to create a special treasure according to your specifications.

Yes, I do accept wholesale orders. A tax ID number is required.

How do I care for and clean my jewelry?

Care & Maintenance: Always put your jewelry on after you spritz yourself with hairspray and perfume, as the chemicals can damage the metal &/or stones.

For cleaning Sterling Silver, a product I recommend is Connoisseurs Silver Jewelry Cleaner sold in a little gray tub at Bed. Bath & Beyond -it takes 5 seconds, just don’t dip anything but silver in it. You can also use toothpaste followed by a warm water rinse. In both cases, dry with a lint-free cloth. You can watch my how-to video here where I compare the Connoisseur’s to an all-natural method and see the results.

For cleaning Copper, I recommend rubbing the piece directly with a lemon and rinsing with water, then drying with a lint-free cloth.

For cleaning Gold, a great option is diluting Mr.Clean:water, 1:8. Rinse with warm water and dry with a lint free cloth. Use an old tooth-brush to scrub out soap scum and other build-up, as needed.

Please try not to swim, sleep, garden, mow the lawn, workout, etc. while wearing your jewelry. Jewelry is precious, and even though it can hold up to these activities, it is not meant for any of these purposes. Some of my items are made to endure such activities, and certain pieces of my own jewelry I wear all the time too. So don’t worry too much. Just enjoy.

What is your Refund and Exchange Policy?

Collection items are available for refund or exchange within 30 days of purchase.

Refund is based on the original form of payment. If you are returning a gift, you will receive a store credit / exchange only.

In the case of an exchange, shipping for the new item will be free of charge. (However, I do not refund return shipping charges, unless I made an error.)

Custom and personalized orders are not available for refund or exchange.

What is your Warranty / Guarantee?

The Heart Department jewelry is guaranteed for life. I hope that when you choose to make a purchase here, it is the beginning of a long relationship. Everything I create is intended to be future artifacts.

If you have any problem with something purchased from me, as long as the damage is not due to misuse or intentional abuse, my warranty covers the repairs. Just contact me and be ready to pay the shipping both ways- I’ll cover the rest. It’s as simple as that.  Email:  mariel@theheartdepartment.com and tell me what’s up.
